Talking to Machines is an international research initiative exploring how recent advances in artificial intelligence can enhance the design, implementation and analysis of experimental social science. The project develops and tests AI-assisted tools for applications ranging from synthetic personas and experimental treatments to the study of heterogeneous effects across populations and contexts. With a particular interest in culturally diverse research settings, including the Global South, the initiative aims to make experimental research more efficient, accessible and broadly applicable. A central objective is to translate methodological advances into open-source tools that can be used by the wider research community.
